CWAC 2018
Expanding His Kingdom In Cuba
The holiday season is gearing up. The holidays also mark the arrival of Christmas With A Cause at Hope Church. This is the seventh year of this mission project. Over the years, our generous congregation has raised more than $80,000 for various mission projects, including funds for a college scholarship, renovations of a Christian coffee shop and a house for a residential drug treatment program, building a maternity center in Zambia, a church in the Philippines, and a treatment center for babies born addicted to drugs.
This year, our goal is to continue to be the hands and feet of our Lord as we have committed to raise about $21,000 to expand His Kingdom in Cuba. Our goal is to reflect Acts 2: 46-47: “Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
Our theme is “Building Hope 4 Cuba.” Here’s what donations to this year’s campaign will support:
Special Needs Resource Center
We will support a church-based ministry, which serves individuals with special needs and their family members. Each week, volunteers lead activities for children/adults whose disabilities prevent them from participating in the public education system. While the students are being taught, the family members get a much-needed opportunity to study the Bible, share and support one another. The center is a facility where family members can receive prayer, professional counseling, therapies and support. To complete the renovation of this facility, the ministry will need $2,600 to install doors, windows and air conditioning units.
Green House and Mission House Training Center
Using a newly-constructed greenhouse, we will be financing a start-up business where single mothers can grow produce to sell in the local community and nearby tourist area. This is critical because at this time human trafficking is the primary source of income for many of these women. Being able to grow and sell produce will provide them with a way out of this cycle. For $1,000, we will be able to pay the salaries of three single-mothers and three security guards for a three-month growing season. The proceeds from that growing season will be reinvested by them for the following seasons. A simple three-month investment is designed to generate on-going income to those who are the most vulnerable.
In addition, we will be able to assist in the completion of a 12-bed Ministry Training Center and Guest House, which is already nearly 95 percent complete. Once opened, it will be able host international mission teams, as well as serve as a training and retreat center for Cuban ministry leaders and their families. We will be raising the final $5,100 to purchase windows, doors, mattresses, bedding, towels and the wood to make bunk bed frames. These items will be purchased here and shipped to our partners in Cuba. The cost of the shipping will be covered through an organization in Florida that has agreed to include our items in their container shipment scheduled for shipment in the January/February timeframe. This organization has made prior shipments to Cuba (including the newly constructed greenhouse previously mentioned), and they are experienced and equipped to handle all the legal paperwork.
Church Planting
We will also be able to help complete a thriving church, which is one of the most dynamic ministries in the country. Last year at this time, the worship facility had a dirt floor. But, with some hard work and generosity, the facility is slowly being converted intofunctional worship space. It will take $8,000 to complete the repurposing and reconstruction of this facility.
In addition, we will help a church in the countryside with little resources purchase the property they are currently leasing to host worship services and community outreach. The cost to purchase the entire facility will be $4,000.
Over the course of the next few weeks, you can help in three ways:
Pray for the success of the 2018 Christmas With A Cause campaign.
Spread the word about the campaign to all you come in touch with.
Prayerfully consider sacrificially giving to the campaign.
Your support is appreciated during this holiday season.
