Be Still And Know

Be Still and Know

Jacob Crawford

I was meditating on Psalm 46 today and wrote some of my revelations down to encourage you and thrust you forward into God’s word. Please read the passage and meditate on it yourselves so that God would reveal even more to you about His Word.“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

This is who He is. He is our refuge the very place of comfort, He is the shelter of peace and He is the protector in times of trouble. He is the very strength we need to live, He is the sustainer of life. This is who is He is. Write these things upon your heart and know that if you are in Christ you are within the refuge of the Lord. Claim the Lord’s refuge over your life, claim His strength so that in the ever-present trouble of your life you will recognize where you are and where your strength comes from.

“Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”

When life seems out of control and overwhelming and it seems like the walls are caving in the Lord tells us that we should not fear. Even when the worst situations seems to come up in life we do not fear the state in which our life is in because we remember that He is our refuge, He is our strength. In troublesome times where it seems like the world is ending it is imperative that we know who we are in Christ. It is so important to know that we are in Christ and to know that He is protecting us and giving us the strength to press on.

"There is a river who's streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day."

The presence of God is where we need to retreat when life becomes uncertain and times are full of overwhelming situations. For most people they recognize the second verse of this passage that speaks of the earth giving way, waters roaring and the mountains quaking because they feel that way in their life but they have failed to come into the refuge of the Lord. The reason they fail to do this is because they don't know how to enter the holy place where the Most High dwells. The Holy Spirit lives in us through Christ which allows us to enter the place of the Most High where hope is found and love is overflowing. In this place we can receive the help of the Lord and its found in the quiet place.

"Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress."

In the days we live in we are seeing nations rise and fall on the earth and it seems as if America is on the brink of failing and falling as a world power at times. We live in a time where wars and rumor of wars surround us. It seems like sicknesses is flooding the earth and we fear an epidemic of ebola. We live in a time where the earth is seeming to melt right in front of our eyes. I believe God is forcing us to come into knowledge of the reality of the latter portion of this passage, that He is with us and He is our fortress. Many of us have placed our trust in the state of our nation and have placed our comfort in knowing that our nation is the best on the earth and for many within the church they see the nation as the protector. God is drawing us back to Him and He is going to allow nations to continue to fall so that people will realize that He is the only fortress and the only one we can trust. If we are found in Christ we are no longer defined as Americans alone, but we are now sons and daughters of God. We are foreigners on this earth and our home is no longer found in our lives in America but its found in the Kingdom of God.

"Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire."

There is coming a day where all wars will end and peace will be brought on to the earth and Jesus will reign over heaven and earth as a King. Jesus will break the bow and the spear and the earth in the way we know it will be destroyed but Jesus will restore all with perfect peace. If we are found in Him we will be with Him.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord Almighty is within us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”

The big question is how do we do this? How do we get the Word written on our hearts? How do we come into who we are in Christ? How do we come into that holy place? How do we know that in the midst of trouble God is our fortress?

It’s all right here at the end of this passage-We get still. We stop what we are doing, we stop looking at our situations, our struggles our problems and we look to Him. We get still before Him and just say God you are the exalted one. I exalt you higher than the problems in my life where its crashing down. I exalt you higher than the problems in our nation and in our world. I exalt you higher. When we get still before God we are able to recognize Him for who He says He is. A lot of the time we don't just get still and look to God. We try to keep going at what we are doing and see God work through it, but God doesn't ask us to see Him in what we are doing or in the situation that is going on. He says, “Be still and know that I am God.” It is at this point where we realize He is over the situation and we can work through it with Him lifted high.

I encourage you today to be still and see that He is God. In the project you are working on be still and know that He is God. If you are working with others and you are able stop what you are doing and together get still and acknowledge Him as God. All things are in Him and for Him and when we get still we can finally recognize them as such. Be still and know that He is God and exalt Him among the nations and over the earth. He is worthy of our time to get still before Him. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and when we recognize that is who He is its easy to get still before Him because He is worthy and He deserves it.

May the Lord increase His presence and give you deeper revelation of who He is to you and who you are in Him as you get still before Him.
