Is It Time to Hit Reset?

Happy New Year! The hustle and bustle of the holidays are behind us as we look forward to another year with great expectation. Some of us have set goals for the year. Some of us are still trying to set goals for the year. Some of us have already given up on our goals we set back on January 1st. The start of a new year is a time to hit the proverbial reset button and reexamine our priorities. It is a time to consider what or who is most important in our lives. And it is a time to put them back in their proper order.Recently my husband and I attended the Kettering Health Network holiday party. A big reason my husband joined the group a few years ago was their emphasis on faith as a key component to healthcare. This includes daily prayer before morning rounds in the hospital and devotions as part of staff meetings. Even during the holiday party, there was a time of devotion, and its words really took root in my heart. In a room full of exhausted, overworked physicians, nurses, and administrators, the president of the network said this: “Always remember, it’s faith first, family second, and work third. When work gets out of whack, everything suffers.” Wow! So true, but oftentimes so difficult to keep our priorities in the proper order.If our relationship with God has slid down our priority list (or fallen off our list completely), the start of the new year is a great time to reexamine what is truly important in our lives. Begin by talking to God in prayer each day. Get back to reading His word daily. Make worship time on Sunday mornings a priority. Join a small group to deepen your relationship with God and others. A healthy relationship with God naturally feeds a healthy relationship with our families and our coworkers. Hit reset on your priorities: faith first, family second, work third. And may you be blessed abundantly in 2019!“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
