Christmas Activity For You & Your Kids
Back in September my blog post discussed three uncomplicated ways to make time for Jesus in our fast-paced lives: prayer, reading scripture, and acting like Jesus. And right now, the holidays are one of the busiest times of year for many of us. As the to-do list seems to grow exponentially longer during the months of November and December, prayer and scripture reading often get pushed to the bottom (or even fall off) the list. And let’s not even get into the acting like Jesus part—the endless desire for more “stuff” and the Black Friday sales mania! God bless anyone who attempts to mingle with this crowd. As for me, I’ll stay home with another cup of coffee and pray for your safety.
In the coming months I want to encourage us to regain our focus on Jesus, beginning with reading scripture during this fast-paced holiday season. I know, it seems strange to give out an assignment to add to the to-do list, but friends, it’s not meant to be complicated--just 10-15 minutes each day spent with Jesus will be time well spent. Jesus, the one who humbly came on Christmas morning to save us from our sins. Jesus, the one who loves all of us unconditionally and illogically. Jesus, the one who provides us with true joy and contentment. Jesus, the one who blesses us beyond what we deserve. Get the point? And when we put Him first, the rest of our to-do list may not seem so urgent after all. Let’s remember: you always have time for the things you put first.
Below is a scripture writing plan for the month of December. At the very least, take time each day to read the scripture. But I encourage each of us to take it a step further and write each one down, cementing His truth on our hearts and minds. And may we all find peace, joy, and blessings during this holiday season.
